This presentation will focus on the important and curious issue of gifted underachievement.   Why do some  students who have high academic potential do poorly in school?  Why do some gifted students have negative attitudes about school?  We would expect students with high academic potential to do well in school and to have positive attitudes about school.  This is not true for many gifted students and my presentation, based on my research and clinical work, will present reasons for underachievement (academic, psychological, school environment, family) as well as solutions.
